If you can avoid it, dont leave luggage or items of any worth visible in a vehicle. But if you dont have a choice, try to hide it as best you can. Parking garages might be a better choice then on the street. And if have to park on the street just try parking in a high traffic area so if something suspicious happens other people presence might make it not so comfortable an environment to break in. Its a risk. But near the ferry building i usually see a lot of cops so your choose in the end.
Park on Soma, take a nice walk. No parking there. There's paid parking lots up the street, too.
The building closes at 10 p.m. but the shops close at different times
Yes
I used to work in the building not long ago and can confirm there is no luggage storage in the building.
Depends on what you want to buy. If you just need a memory card or common charging cable you can go to Walgreens which is nearby.
Yes
Being from Prague, architecture is something that we notice, appreciate and San Francisco was indeed one of the highlights. My walk from the Castro district all the way down to the ferry building, along the water until I was facing the Pacific. The Ferry building and surroundings are well kept & hopefully it remains so with less traffic or cars in the area.
Since moving to SF a year and a half ago I have been to the Ferry Building 7 times. It is a must for any tourist or local. My personal favorite days to go are the ones when the farmers market is open. There are many free samples and wonderful food businesses to check out. I would highly recommend going to anyone who has taste buds. Fair warning, go with an empty stomach! Very family friendly and very safe. Includes a wonderful view of the Bay Bridge from the back eating area.
We went to the farmer's market at and throughout the Ferry Building and were AMAZED by the different stalls and variety of food and fresh fruits and vegetables and seafood. Shopping with a view of the ocean and Bay Bridge?? Yes please!
Great place to eat. Many different options as the food is very good
Lots of shops open to reasonable precaution, posted signs adhering to the state guidelines for covid 19, I pledge to come buy one item a week from any and all shops on the waterfront to boost their sales and revitalize and lend a helping dollar or two to save small business in the bay!!
I was able to create a wonderful lunch from the variety of shops of freshly baked bread, as variety of cheeses and wine. It was a beautiful the perfect San Francisco experience to munch on these treats by the water.
The San Francisco ferry building is must for any tourist or even local of the area. The place is bustling with life during the day with ferries coming in and out and vendors inside the building. The vendors sell lots of food and various other items. Additionally there is a farmers market on the weekend making the place even more lively. The ferry building also has a great view of the bay bridge, the bay itself and the city skyline. If you find yourself in San Francisco then you owe it to yourself to visit the ferry building.
Good food. Gott's roadside California burger is amazing. Fort Point brewery has a nice strawberry Berliner Weiss. Skip the oyster shooters from Hog Island Oyster co at $10 a pop they were small and did not taste great and the mix they give you with it is sub-par.
A great place to go for local and tourists alike. Inside is lined with shops from coffee to ice cream to ceramics, and you can find a little something for every mood. On the weekends there is a farmers market behind the building that is full of fresh vegetables and cooked food. The lines do get long though so get here early! Some of the stores are still open during the COVID19 quarantine, but they have reduced hours. Support the businesses that are still open come for a brief visit of the ferry building!
Amazing market in a historic building! Love Acme Bread Co and the Cowgirl Creamery!
Cool place. Very historic. Seals playing around on the pier
Love love love the Ferry Building! Watch the ferries come in and go out. You can sit with a coffee outside, in front of the water. Then inside there's food for sale, a great wine bar, superb coffee. And there's the absolutely brilliant farmer's market..Big tip - take a ferry! Try Sausalito for an afternoon, a bargain, you will pass Alcatraz! Fantastic!
Lovely I met this beautiful lady name suzie she told me a lot about San Francisco. She was very helpful God bless you young lady.
Ferry Building is opening up step by step. Some good food options for take out. And my favorite butcher shop is open. Also without all tourists every thing is much more relaxed
Lots of shops with food, knick knacks, coffee and tea, and beautiful sight lines outside for checking out Treasure Island and the Bay Bridge.
Kool relaxing place to get some fresh air and to go for food and to see the bay
This is a cool place to visit with many eclectic eateries, views of the Bay Bridge and great history. I used to got to the farmers market out front here in Tuesdays but I don't know what the latest is with that and the pandemic. Lots of cool stuff going on outside like booths, demonstrations and skaters. Hubby lives that it opens early enough for his early morning walks.
On a beautiful day like today it's very relaxing tonjust sit and chill looking out on the bay.😊
Cool old building renovated with shops and some tasty food! Also, early morning farmers market...
Lots of great shops and restaurants. Can be a bit busy/crowded on the weekends.
Quiet during COVID most shops are closed. Granted Blue bottle is still open.
Love taking the ferry to SF, but it will be nice when the ferry building market can open up fully again!
Great Farmers Market. Very knowledgeable vendors! Also wonderful food shops.
Before COVID19, I used to pass by the building 5 days a week. So many people used to use the ferry's. I haven't been able to take a ride but that's one of my next adventures.
There are so many great shops. Grab some bread for a snake. Sit and eat a wonderful meal. Enjoy some wine or a cocktail before you board your ferry. You can even grab some fresh groceries. It's a great place to wait for your ferry or just enjoy all it has to offer.
Big farmer market , with various foods, fruits, vegetables, chocolats a s o. and also a great tower where ferries begin their journey to Tiburon, Sausalito , Marine Land and other enchanting places.Great view on the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge and the sea side.
This place a a COVID-19 outbreak waiting to happen. People are packed like sardines inside the building. No one is enforcing social distancing at the Ferry Building entrances and exists. There is always someone without a mask walking through a crowd of people in a packed building.
THIS is the must-see attraction in San Francisco. Forget about touristy Fisherman's Wharf with the same chain stores and restaurants you can get everywhere. This is the best of San Francisco's foodie culture, especially on Farmers' Market Saturday mornings.
Unfortunately, Covid 19 has taken its toll here! BUT the remaining businesses still fighting the good fight still provide a worthwhile experience worth a visit!! Therefore, 5 STARS!!!!
